Why is it that the Switch uses Bluetooth for controllers, but can’t use Bluetooth headphones?  Inconsistent explanations add up to dissatisfaction among users. The Bionik BT Audio Sync aims to solve this problem, however, cheaply and effectively.
The gadget is a dedicated Bluetooth dongle that draws power from the Switch’s USB-C port, eliminating the need to charge it, as is the case with some solutions that use the headphone jack. The dongle hangs out beneath the screen, out of the way of your hands and most other accoutrements, though it won’t work with protective cases.
A couple of smart additions to the design makes using it even easier: a pass-through USB-C port for playing while charging, and a USB-A-to-female-USB-C cable, for plugging the unit into the dock. It’s necessary because with the bottom-mounted dongle installed, it won’t fit into the standard dock.

Connection is fairly straightforward. Hold down the pairing button for a few seconds until the orange LED flashes rapidly, then put your Bluetooth headphones into pairing mode. The pairing process itself is a bit hit-and-miss with no screen feedback, but two or three tries should be enough to get most headphones or speakers to connect. Once paired, the connection is reestablished immediately. As a bonus, I didn’t notice any great drop in battery life when the Audio Sync was active.
When playing with several different sets of wireless headphones, I noticed the usual very short delay (2-5 milliseconds would be my guess) between the onscreen action and the sound, in both portable and docked modes. Music and sound effects were exactly as I expected them to be, though on rare occasions either the left or right channel would cut out for a split second. All in all, fairly typical performance for Bluetooth.

$۴۰ seems like a lot to pay to fix a shortcoming that Nintendo should have addressed itself. But if you’ve invested a lot into a pair of nice Bluetooth headphones for your phone or laptop, it’s a pretty reasonable upgrade. I appreciate the simplicity of the package, and the pass-through port and included USB cable for use when docking. Overall, it’s probably as good a solution as you can get, short of Nintendo supporting Bluetooth officially.
Note: The BT Audio Sync was tested on the original Switch, but it should work fine with the recent hardware upgrade. It may not be compatible with the new Switch Lite hitting the market in a few weeks, as that design uses a different plastic body.

Want to print photos from your phone or tablet? HP has two new Sprocket photo printers, and both of them can do just that!
All in the Family
HP’s Sprocket photo printers have been very successful. The original Sprocket was introduced in 2016 and updated in October of 2018.
Now, HP introduces two new members of the Sprocket family: the Select and Studio. The 2nd Edition remains in the lineup. And, of course, you can print photos from your phone or tablet with all three models. The Sprocket 2nd Edition and Sprocket Select have internal rechargeable batteries.
You tether the Sprocket Studio to your desk with a power cable. It has an optional battery pack, but the Studio’s larger size might make it less convenient to use as a portable printer. The Studio also uses a different print technology than the other models.

Sprocket Select
The Sprocket Select ($149, at this writing) expands on the original and 2nd Edition Sprockets. As with the earlier iterations, it uses color photo paper that leverages Zink technology. Zink paper isn’t unique to the Sprocket—instant photo printers (Kodak, Polaroid, etc.) also use it.
The original and 2nd Edition Sprockets use sticky-back paper that results in a 2- x 3-inch photo—just the right size to put in an album, journal, or on any other surface, like the refrigerator door. The Sprocket Select is similar to the Sprocket 2nd Edition, but it increases the size of the print to 2.3 x 3.4 inches. The pack of 10 sheets is color-coded, which makes it easier to find the right size for your printer. A pack of 20 sheets costs about $8 (or about 40 cents per print).

Unlike the original Polaroid photos you had to let develop before you could see the image, the Sprocket uses thermal technology to print the photo as it ejects the paper. Once they’re printed, the photos are relatively heat-resistant. Even if you leave one on the dashboard of your car on a sunny day, it should remain viable.

Like the previous versions, you charge the Select via MicroUSB cable. However, it doesn’t come with a charger, so you’ll need a free USB port on your computer or a spare wall charger. It initially takes about an hour to charge the printer before you can use it.

After you charge the Select, drop in the paper, download the Sprocket App , and then pair the printer with your phone or tablet via Bluetooth. An LED on the front of the printer shows when it’s turned on, and you can change the color of it in the app. The printer comes in three colors: Black, Blush (pink), or Pearl (silver-gray).

The Picture-in-Picture (PiP) extension for Google Chrome lets you watch videos on the internet in PiP mode. However, if you want to watch a video from your local drive, you can use Chrome to play it in a PiP window.
For this guide, you can use either the built-in PiP mode or the official Chrome extension. If you haven’t already, head over to the Chrome web store and install the PiP extension to continue.

Note: Not all video file formats are supported for playback in Google Chrome. However, Chrome supports WebM and MP4 formats natively, though some MP4 files may fail to open due to different types of codecs.
For this guide, we’ll be using Windows as the operating system. The process should work identically on all desktop platforms including macOS, Linux, and Chrome OS.
For Google’s PiP extension to work with files stored locally on your computer, you have to grant permission to the extension to access a file’s URL. Right-click the extension’s icon located in the toolbar and then select “Manage Extensions.”

Scroll down until you see “Allow Access to File URLs” and toggle the switch to the “On” position.

Adulthood means you get to tackle all sorts of new tasks, including breaking down materials for projects or cleanup. If you use the right saw, you can work faster. With these saws in your workshop, no project will slow you down.
Most of us know how a saw works—you move the blade back and forth across the material, and either the pull or push stroke slices through it. Different types of saws look similar, so you might assume a hacksaw, a bow saw, and a coping saw can all accomplish the same task equally well.
But that couldn’t be further from the truth. The nature of a blade often makes a huge difference in the type of material it can cut through, and when you should use it.
If you try to cut a metal pipe or tree limb with a standard crosscut handsaw, you’ll either wreck the blade or saw until your arm’s about to fall off—probably both.
If you own the right saw for the job, it has a massive impact on your workflow. With that in mind, here are five saws everyone should own.
The Workhorses: Crosscut and Ripsaws

When you think of a handsaw, you probably imagine a western crosscut saw. These come in two styles: crosscut and rip cut. The difference is the direction in which you want to saw the board.
Usually, when you buy a board from a box store, the wood is longer than it is wide. You cross cut to shorten the board and rip cut to narrow it.

Imagine a board composed of stacked toothpicks. A crosscut will cut the toothpicks in half, while a rip cut will separate them into two bundles of whole toothpicks. Crosscut teeth slice through the wood grain, and rip cut teeth separate it as it cuts. Technically, you can use either blade for either job, but you won’t get clean results, and it will take more effort.
Because you can generally buy a board as wide as you need, you can probably get away with owning just a crosscut saw. It’s handy if you have both, though—especially if you want to reuse leftover wood from previous projects. We’ve got a few recommendations to get you started.
