This tutorial will show you how to use MediaStreamer on the ExpressVPN Router App. Before proceeding, make sure you have the ExpressVPN Router App correctly set up on your router.
MediaStreamer is only supported on the OpenWrt 1.5.1 and DD-WRT 1.3.1 versions of the ExpressVPN router app, so be sure to update your router firmware first.

While connected to your ExpressVPN router’s Wi-Fi, go to https://expressvpnrouter.com/
Log in using admin and the 8-digit code at the bottom/back of your router
Go to VPN > Manage Devices
Under Settings, select Let me select which devices should be protected
Select the devices you want to use MediaStreamer. You may need to register your IP address with ExpressVPN.

Find your ExpressVPN activation code
Sign in to your ExpressVPN account using your ExpressVPN username and password.

Below the green Set up ExpressVPN button, you’ll see your activation code. Keep this tab open, you’ll need to refer to it later.

Set up your Asus router
Connect your router to a computer and access the Asus router dashboard. If you need help finding your router’s gateway, follow the instructions here.
if you are logging in for the first time, enter ‘admin’ and a temporary password. Click Next.

Select a password for the router’s SSIDs. Input the password and then click on Apply and then Complete.

On the left side of your dashboard, click on Administration.

Select Firmware Upgrade. Click on Choose file and select the firmware you downloaded previously.
Note: if you see a message saying firmware file is invalid, please check you have the correct firmware. The firmware file name should also match your router model name.

Click Upload.
When you see the message Router update is completed, you may need to reconnect your Ethernet cable or to the router’s Wi-Fi. The Wi-Fi name is ASUS_(modelname)_(revision) and the password is the PIN number printed on the sticker on the back or bottom of the router.
Go to expressvpnrouter.com and log in with admin and admin.

Enter the activation code you found above and click Activate.

You should now be connected to the VPN.

Connect your devices
All devices connected to the Internet via your ExpressVPN router (either through cable or Wi-Fi) will have its traffic tunneled through a secure VPN.
To connect any device to the VPN, plug its network cable into the ExpressVPN router or connect the device to the ExpressVPN router’s Wi-Fi. The network name and password are given at the back or bottom of your router.
You can also change the VPN server location you are connected to or disconnect a device connected to the router by logging into www.expressvpnrouter.com.

If you already have a Linksys router at home, you can set up the ExpressVPN app for routers to add a layer of security and privacy to your browsing.
Note: The below steps are only for these Linksys router models:
Linksys WRT1200AC
Linksys WRT1900AC 13J1
Linksys WRT1900AC 13J2
Linksys WRT1900ACS
Linksys WRT3200ACM
If you purchased an above router via FlashRouters, please see the setup steps here.
If you purchased an above router from a source other than FlashRouters and have not set it up, please see the setup steps for the 1200, 1900, or 3200.
If you use a different router, please try the manual router setup steps.

Sign in to your ExpressVPN account.
Click Set Up ExpressVPN.
Select Router on the left and your Linksys router model on the right-side drop down.
Click Download Firmware. You should also copy or make a note of your activation code as you’ll need to enter it during setup later.

Set up the ExpressVPN app on your Linksys router
Before proceeding, make sure your Linksys router is correctly set up and connected to the internet.
Sign in to your router admin panel at www.linksyssmartwifi.com. Enter the user name “admin” then click Sign In.
Select Connectivity.
Under Router Firmware Update – Manual, click Choose File and upload the ExpressVPN firmware you just downloaded.
Click Start and follow instructions to perform the initiate update. Your router will restart during this process.
Note: If you modified your Wi-Fi network’s name and password from the default settings at any time after setting up your Linksys router, then installing the ExpressVPN app will reset both your network name and password.Therefore, after installing the ExpressVPN app, your Wi-Fi network name will be LinksysXXXXX. You can find the password on the sticker at the bottom of your router.
Connect to your router’s Wi-Fi or by cable then go to www.expressvpnrouter.com.
Sign in using the 8-digit number under the router’s serial code, without the “-“. This can be found on the white sticker at the bottom of the router.
Paste your ExpressVPN activation code then connect to a VPN location.
