How to block specific IP addresses on Linksys routers

If you’re trying to access certain streaming services, it’s a good idea to block specific IPs on your router.
To block specific IP addresses on your Linksys router:
Log into your router with your router IP. Some sample IP addresses are 192.168.0.1, 192.168.0.1, and 192.168.1.254
Go to Setup > Advanced Routing
Fill in the following:
Router Name: enter a name of your choice
Destination IP: 8.8.8.8
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.255
Gateway: the IP address of your router. If you get an error, try changing the last digit of the router’s IP address e.g. 192.168.1.1 > 192.168.1.2

Click on Save Settings
Repeat steps 1-7, but enter 8.8.4.4 for the Destination IP

How to block specific IP addresses on TP-Link routers

If you’re trying to access certain streaming services, it’s a good idea to block specific IPs on your router.
To block specific IP addresses on your TP-Link router:
With your router connected to the internet, go to 192.168.2.1 (or 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1). If you’re stuck, see instructions for finding your router gateway.
Sign in with your router username and password. The default username and password are usually admin and admin.
On the left side menu, click Advanced Routing.
Click Add New…
Add the following to the route list:
Network/Host IP: 8.8.8.8
Netmask: 255.255.255.255
Gateway: <your router IP>  (e.g. 192.168.2.1)
Status: Enabled

Your screen should look like this:
Click Save.
Repeat steps 4 to 7 using the following:
Network/Host IP: 8.8.4.4
Netmask: 255.255.255.255
Gateway: <your router IP>  (e.g. 192.168.2.1)
Status: Enabled

Depending on which streaming service you want to use, you may need to add a few more IPs. For the list of specific IPs, please contact the ExpressVPN Support team.
If you’re on Windows, open your Command Prompt.
If you’re on Mac, open your Terminal.
Enter ping 8.8.8.8 and ping 8.8.4.4 (and the other IPs you blocked).
The ping tests should fail (e.g. “Timed Out” or “Destination Host Unreachable”). If you get a response, check you have performed the steps above correctly. If the problem persists, reboot your router and repeat the steps above.
Once you see the ping tests fail:
Turn off your router
Unplug it from the power source
Wait for 30 seconds
Plug in your router
Turn on your router

If you’re trying to access certain streaming services, it’s a good idea to block specific IPs on your router.
To block specific IP addresses on your TP-Link router:
With your router connected to the internet, go to 10.0.0.1 (or 10.0.0.2 or 10.0.0.0). If you’re stuck, see instructions for finding your router gateway.
Sign in with your router username and password. The default username and password are usually admin and password. You can check this on some models by looking at the bottom of the router.
At the top of the page, click the ADVANCED tab.
On the left, under Advanced Setup, click Static Routes.
Click Add.
Add the following to the route list:
Route Name: <something to help you recognize this route>
Destination IP Address: 8.8.8.8
Netmask: 255.255.255.255
Gateway: <your router IP> (e.g. 10.0.0.1)
Metric: 2

Your screen should look like this:
Click Apply.
Repeat steps 5 to 8 using the following:
Route Name: <something to help you recognize this route>
Destination IP Address: 8.8.4.4
Netmask: 255.255.255.255
Gateway: <your router IP> (e.g. 10.0.0.1)
Metric: 2

On the left side menu, click LAN.
You will see a few tabs in the middle of the page. Click Route.
Set “Enable static routers” to Yes.
Add the following to the route list:

Netmask: 255.255.255.255
Gateway: <your router IP> (e.g. 192.168.2.1)
Metric: 2
Interface: LAN

Click the + button on the right. Your screen should now look like this:
Repeat steps 6 and 7 using the following:
