Protect your work and home computers with Sophos anti-virus software, available for no cost to students, faculty and staff. Thanks to a licensing agreement between the UW and Sophos, students, faculty and staff can use the anti-virus software on University-owned computers and their personal computers, including PCs, servers and workstations. Don’t lose access to your MATLAB, SPSS, SAS and Adobe Creative Cloud software. Renew licenses by June 22 through UWare, the UW’s online source for software offered at reduced cost to you, thanks to licensing agreements with vendors. MATLAB (MATrix LABoratory) software delivers powerful computational, visualization and application development tools to your desktop, while SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) and SAS (Statistical Analysis System) are statistical software packages. Adobe Creative Cloud includes graphic design, photography, video editing and other applications. Use of these licenses is for teaching, learning and academic research purposes only and not for conducting University business or for any other purpose.

The enhancements will help protect your personal and University data from malicious attacks, but may change how you connect from off-campus. Starting April 24, 2018, you must use a UW secure virtual private network (VPN) to access UW resources from off-campus through a remote desktop or network file-sharing application. Options include the free Husky OnNet service for current students, faculty and staff, or a departmental VPN. Not sure what a VPN is or if this applies to you? Read more. Online access to email, Canvas and UW Libraries will not be affected.
