UW students and instructors help improve plagiarism-detection tool

VeriCite’s plagiarism-detection tool is now easier to use thanks to an improved user interface designed with input from UW students and faculty. Student papers can be submitted through the web-based system and checked for plagiarism. Eighteen UW representatives participated in usability studies to evaluate the tool’s usefulness. “Having real users helped us learn what we needed to focus on and what needed to be fixed,” said Scott Siddall, VeriCite’s managing partner. Feedback from the studies led to VeriCite making over 30 changes to the user interface.
